Gus the clown doesn't know what to make of his nephew and niece turning up out of the blue! But now he is Peter and Santa's only living relative, and escaping to the circus seems a much better idea to them than the threat of being sent to two separate orphanages. Gus will keep the children only if they can make themselves useful, and Peter and Santa find that they have to fight hard to fight hard to really belong to the circus.
